So It Begins..

February 27th, 2007 at 08:06 pm

I've decided to create this blog as a way to chronicle my desire to become debt free. I realize that its something that has created a great deal of stress in my life and I can't let it control me anymore. So here goes! Enjoy!

Today's Accomplishments:
Sold book on half.com =$21
Closed out bank account I forgot about =$249.42.
Today's Total= $270.42. Not bad for one day!

I'm torn on if I should put it towards savings/bills/computer. I really need a home computer. I plan to begin online classes this summer...can't do it without a computer. Thoughts?

    Welcome, honeychild.

Welcome! They have taught me here to save up for something I need or want. Since you are going to need a computer for classes, I think you might want to start a fund for it. Maybe put $50 extra on your bills and use the rest for your computer? Good luck!

Well, first, do you have an emergency fund? You need to start that first. And Welcome!!!!!!!

Yes, I second what Ima said, emergency fund first, then bills, then computer. Welcome Smile And I agree with BA it took me awhile to figure out the graphics so that is impressive for a first post

Welcome. They are running really good sales the last few weeks on desktop computers at places like Best Buy, Office Max, Office Depot, and Circuit City (where I won't personally shop due to bad customer service at our local store). I'm seeing full systems for under $400, as the new systems come in with Windows Vista, they are getting rid of the old inventories but offering upgrades with Vista as well.

Since you need it for school and presumably college will put you out in the marketplace with a higher starting salary I would spend the money on the computer first and then worry about an emergency fund and debt payday. But that's just me.
